Wallbox and CarMedialab collaborate in Smart Charging

Wallbox, together with CarMedialab, are running OCPP software in their Copper SB and Pulsar Plus range. This means the operating information inside those chargers can now be used with other software platforms, not just myWallbox.

For charge point operators, this opens up the opportunity to integrate Wallbox chargers with their infrastructure, knowing with confidence they’ll be compatible with their software programs.

Going forward collaboration is expected to continue between the two companies as they work together on newer versions of OCPP.

New Vehicle Health Management for buses

Problems with the vehicle are reported early on in the bus and in the control centre and the driver is given relevant support. Comprehensive vehicle monitoring during ongoing operations enables the dispatcher to get an overview of the situation in the bus himself. Unexpected breakdowns can be avoided, which increases the availability of the vehicles. As a result the entire fleet is more effective and customer-friendly.

Cost reduction through active management of the loading processes

Our CEO Heiko Bauer has published an article in this year’s “Elektrobus Spezial” of the magazine “der Nahverkehr” on the subject of “Cost reduction through active management of charging processes”. In it he describes how it is possible to reduce peak power and benefit from variable electricity prices and presents our charging management system MOBILEcharge.

CarMedialab joins the Open Charge Alliance

The Open Charge Alliance (OCA) is an industry alliance formed to further develop OCPP to lead open and flexible EV networks worldwide.

The OCA focuses on the development of the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) and the Open Smart Charging Protocol (OSCP) in order to optimize costs and risks of investments in network infrastructures.

As a member of the OCA, CarMedialab has the opportunity to help shape current and future versions of the OCPP to best meet market requirements. OCA uses the knowledge and experience of its members to provide a cost-effective, interoperable and universal infrastructure for charging EVs.

Development of an induction charging system: Another step towards the future

CML as project partner
The German/French joint research and development project EMCC (Efficient Modular Convenient Charging) is developing an induction charging system for electric vehicles under real conditions. This system should be user-friendly, modular, efficient, safe and cost-effective and offers a wide range of possible applications for cars, buses and trucks. This enables users to charge their vehicles comfortably without manual intervention.

The aim of the project is to increase the efficiency and safety of the charging process while reducing the weight of the station and its costs. The project is expected to run until the end of 2020.

New Year, New Product

The new year starts with a new product in cooperation with Init se: the efficient charging management system MOBILEcharge.

By combining our IT know-how with Init’s experience as the world’s leading provider of IT solutions for public transport, we created the MobileCharge product from the MobileECO2 product family.

In order for electromobility to make increasing inroads into public transport, a certain amount of coordination is required in advance: When will the electric buses run and for how long?
