Communikation between charging station and backend

Software Stack OCPP

The software stack contains the entire protocol flow of smart charging according to OCPP and supports the rapid development of smart AC or DC charging stations.

Intelligent charging communication

Drivers of e-vehicles expect charging to work easily. For vehicle and charging point to harmonize, software and hardware need to be perfectly coordinated. CarMedialab develops state-of-the-art technology for standard-compliant communication between charging point and vehicle.

Advantages of a Stack

Short implementation time

Very short implementation time of the software stack.

High quality

High quality due to proven application.

Time and costs can be planned

Use our experience instead of going through an expensive and lengthy process.

Reduced risk

Connection to numerous backends already done.

Independency

By getting the source code, it is possible to continue working independently at any time without CarMedialab.

Reliability and security

Our Software Stack is worldwide in use and tested.

All in one package

You purchase a company license. This entitles you to use and sell the software on your hardware as part of your product for an unlimited period of time, regionally and quantitatively, but not exclusively.
You receive the source code. The programming language used is C/ C++ – the platform is Embedded Linux and x86 Linux.
A valid maintenance contract entitles you to receive updates for bug fixes, optimizations and more. If new versions of the underlying standards are adopted by the OCPP Protocol or ISO 15118 / IEC 15118 and you have a valid maintenance contract, you can purchase an upgrade.

Components

The package of the software stack OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) consists of a collection of source code, libraries and scripts. CarMedialab develops continuously – so the OCPP software always meets the latest requirements.

Teamwork

Lumissil Microsystems, NXP® Semiconductors and CarMedialab are collaborating to develop a complete reference development platform based on the Lumissil Microsystems IS32CG5317 Green PHY and the NXP i.MX 93 application processor. Our latest software stacks for ISO 15118 and OCPP are used in the process. The result is a fully integrated solution for ISO 15118 compliant communication between the vehicle and the charging station.

Right from the start your experienced partner

We are a member of the Open Charge Alliance.
CarMedialab is a pioneer in Smart Charging. More than 10 years ago we contributed to the first development of a “Powerline” based smart charge communication protocol. We offer you the right software for both conductive und inductive charging. Your advantage: all components have been repeatedly tested and are already successfully in use. Plus, our systems are available immediately.

FAQ

Open Charge Point Protocol
OCPP standard version 1.6 is the most widely used protocol in charging technology. Version 2.0.1 is a further development and is the latest version of the protocol. More information can be found here: https://www.openchargealliance.org/protocols/ocpp-201/
Systems with communication interfaces which use the OCPP standard are considered OCPP compliant or OCPP conform. It means that different charging points can be linked to different central systems if they have all been developed to be OCPP compliant. In order to verify how compatible they are with other systems, CarMedialab regularly takes part in “testivals” where all of our product’s functions are examined and validated to ensure they comply with standard application.
You are entitled to updates for bug fixes, optimisation and more when you have a valid maintenance contract. If the OCPP standard is updated, you can acquire an upgrade. You receive the latest installation with V1.6 or V2.0.1. The OCPP stack supports JSON. You can test CarMedialab’s software stacks using publicly available test backends for OCPP (try Eurisco for example).
